Reflection is an invaluable habit for personal growth and self-discovery.

By taking a step back to observe, analyse, and reflect on our experiences, we can gain insight into ourselves and glean important lessons for the future.

Reflection can help foster a deeper understanding of our values, beliefs, goals, and motivations. Through this process, we can gain clarity on why and how we make decisions, enabling us to create more meaningful and intentional paths in our lives. Reflection also allows us to recognise our strengths and weaknesses, develop self-awareness and improve our critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

We can also use reflection to celebrate our successes and reflect on our failures. By reflecting on our mistakes, we can recognise patterns that lead us to make the same mistake repeatedly and learn from them. This can help us to become more aware of the consequences of our actions and make better decisions in the future. Finally, reflection helps us to build resilience by enabling us to find meaning in negative experiences and stay focused on our goals, even in difficult times.

There are many different ways to practice reflection, such as journaling, meditation, visualisation, self-talk, or talking to a peer or mentor. People can also benefit from engaging in reflective activities such as writing a narrative about their experiences or attending retreats or workshops. No matter which works best for you, taking time to pause and reflect on your life will bring clarity, insight and awareness that can help you to design a more intentional and meaningful life.

I would encourage you all to do some reflection, on your day, your week or your year. Take the time to see how far you’ve come and especially check in to see if you have reached some of your goals. Often we set goals and forget to celebrate them because we have already moved on to the next milestone that we’d like to achieve.

For us the last twelve months have been about establishing Dr Marni in the practice and setting up the systems in the practice to make that transition easy and seamless. I think you will agree with me that Marni, Erika & Sue are doing a great job of making everyone feel special in the practice. I owe our growth to these three amazing women and to all of you. Plans are set for celebrations and also for ways to serve you, your family and the community better.
